Brand New Music Video From Mike Peters & The Alarm “Coming Backwards”

Mike Peters & The Alarm fans worldwide can check out the brand new music video “Coming Backwards” below.  The emotional song is brand new music from Mike Peters & The Alarm and is taken from the forthcoming soundtrack to Man In The Camo Jacket, the new documentary about Mike Peters’ life and health challenges.  The “Coming Backwards” video is directed by Fahad Vania and shot at Rebl HQ at Full Sail University in Orlando, FL.

Of the new video, Mike Peters commented, “‘When writing and recording ‘Coming Backwards’ I felt it made connections to the energy of the band that was on full display through our first ever video for ‘The Stand’.  When we first connected with audiences back in 1983 it wasn’t just because of our music, it was also through the way we presented ourselves and conducted our performances on stage. It was also transmitted through the iconic red poppy which I paint-sprayed across the backdrops of the video and at our early stage shows. For ‘Coming Backwards’, the production team recreated the set of MTV’s The Cutting Edge, where the original video for ‘The Stand’ was shot and I set to work paint spraying the red poppy and lyrics onto the backdrops and the performance and edit totally captures the modern spirit of the Alarm today…still maverick, still making the kind of ‘stand’ that I first sang about in the original song, only this time the ‘making of the stand’ is now very real with my own comeback from cancer and the work of our charity ‘Love Hope Strength’, which is saving lives at concerts and festivals across the globe.”

The Man In The Camo Jacket soundtrack, released by J-2 Music and ATA Entertainment, will be available exclusively on vinyl (INgrooves) on Record Store Day, this Saturday April 22nd and will be available digitally in early June. “Man In The Camo Jacket,” the film, will be released by XLrator Media.  Directed by Russ Kendall at Kaleidoscope Pictures and produced by J-2 Films, Johnny Lama Productions and executive produced by ATA Entertainment, the documentary traces Mike Peters’ rise to fame, battles with cancer, and inspiring climb back as he enlists some of the world’s top musicians to help save the lives of cancer patients around the globe. Ultimately though, the life he saves may be his own.  Filmed over the course of eight years, the movie documents Peters’ journeys to the summits of some of the world’s tallest mountains…and to the depths of his regular chemotherapy treatments.  “Man In The Camo Jacket” features one-of-a-kind performances from Peters and some of his legendary rock musician friends.  The cast includes Slim Jim Phantom of Stray Cats, Duff McKagan of Guns N’ Roses, Billy Bragg, Glenn Tilbrook of Squeeze, Billy Corgan of Smashing Pumpkins, Richard Blade and Martha Quinn.  To watch the official trailer for “Man In The Camo Jacket,” please click here.

“Man In The Camo Jacket” will have its premiere in Los Angeles and New York City later this month at The Alarm’s “The Gathering” events.  On April 22nd in Los Angeles (The James Bridge Theater/UCLA) and on April 29th in New York City (Gramercy Theater), the movie will be part of a very special evening including sets from Mike Peters (acoustic) and The Alarm (full band).  “The Gathering” was first held in Peters’ home country of Wales in 1992.  This past February was the 25th anniversary of the first “Gathering,” and special concerts were held in Wales to commemorate the anniversary.  The movie is currently being shown at film festivals around the country and will be available on VOD and iTunes on July 4th

Formed in Wales in 1981 by lead singer/songwriter/guitarist Mike Peters, The Alarm came to be known for uplifting songs, idealistic values and a powerhouse live show.  With such ubiquitous hits as “The Stand,” “Sixty-Eight Guns,” “Strength” and more, The Alarm were staples on the radio worldwide in the 1980s.  Mike Peters and The Alarm continue to tour the globe with their music.  Peters is also actively involved with numerous other projects including the charity he co-founded, Love Hope Strength.  In 2007, Peters, a three-time cancer survivor himself, co-founded Love Hope Strength, the world’s leading rock and roll cancer foundation.  Inspired by the powerful words he had written decades earlier, the charity unites rock stars and global citizens with a shared love of music and passion for saving lives, one concert at a time.
