Gary Clark Jr. Joined by Jimmie Vaughan for Live Taping of Speakeasy

On September 8th, Public Television’s critically acclaimed conversation series Speakeasy, will return to New York City’s Iridium to film an all new episode featuring Grammy Award Winner Gary Clark JR. and four-time Grammy Award Winner Jimmie Vaughan. Clark has been dubbed “The Chosen One” by critics for creating his personal trademark sound, which features distorted guitar sound and heavy use of improvisation paired with a soulful voice.  He has shared the stage with musical legends including Eric Clapton, My Morning Jacket, B.B. King, and the Rolling Stones.  Clark won the Grammy Award for Best Traditional R&B performance as well as the Blues Music Award for “Contemporary Blues Male Artist of the Year” two years in a row.

Vaughan has become a staple in the blues-rock community first as a member of the Fabulous Thunderbirds and then as a solo artist. The first four albums from the Fabulous Thunderbirds are ranked among the most important blues recordings. Vaughan is a four-time Grammy Award Winner and has performed with the likes of Eric Clapton, Jimi Hendrix, and Bob Dylan.

Speakeasy is the ground-breaking public television series from the producers of Front and Center which pairs Rock ‘n’ Roll Hall of Famers, Grammy Award and Tony Award winners, and iconic musicians with and interviewer of their choice.  The result is an intimate conversation that leads to stories, experiences and compelling viewpoints that may not have been heard before.Speakeasy will return to public television for a third season November 2017.
