Prince’s former band The Revolution, MC50, Sarah Shook and the Disarmers, Miguel and Liz Phair are just a few names from the long list of performers scheduled for the 2018 Hopscotch Music Festival in downtown Raleigh, festival organizers announced Tuesday.
Other bands on the Hopscotch bill this year include Moses Sumney, Real Estate, Mipso, The Jayhawks, Waxahatchee, Red Fang, Gang Gang Dance, Body/Head, Grouper, Dvsn, US Girls, Hailu Mergia, Ought, The Love Language and dozens of others.
Brother Wayne Kramer, the founding guitarist of Detroit punk legends MC5, will also be performing at Hopscotch. He will be joined on stage by Soundgarden’s Kim Thayil on guitar, Fugazi’s Brendan Canty on drums, Dug Pinnick of King’s X on bass and Zen Guerrilla’s Marcus Durant as the frontman. The group will play MC5’s debut album “Kick Out the Jams” in its entirety, as well as an encore set of MC5 material.
Hopscotch Music Festival will take place Sept. 6-8 at various venues in downtown Raleigh, including City Plaza and Red Hat Amphitheater. VIP wristbands and 3-Day passes – which allow access to all festival clubs, three City Plaza headlining shows and three Red Hat Amphitheater headlining shows – go on sale at 10 a.m. Friday.
Single-show passes for City Plaza and Red Hat performances, as well as 1-Day passes will go on sale later this summer.
More acts will be announced in the coming months.
