As of late, there are have a lot of new, up and coming bands bringing back that really heavy 70’s hard rock sound and I for one am LOVING IT! Bands like Greta Van Fleet, Them Evils, and Thunder Mother are starting a revival of sorts. They are bringing back a sound that a lot of us older people grew up on and bringing it to a younger generation.
Well, I am proud to bring you yet another band throwing their hat in the ring. They are Legs Electric from Perth, Australia. Legs Electric is a group of four women ready to take Australia and the rest of the world by storm with their new EP Two Sides.
Two Sides opens with the first single “Dark Paradise.” Monster guitar riffing from Elena Haynes, combined with the thunderous rhythm section of drummer Kylie Soanes and bassist Erin Gooden, provide the perfect canvas for vocalist Ama Quinsee to lay down her dark and seductive vocals.
“I Wanna Riot” is a great track filled with attitude and swagger. Fists will be pumping and heads will be banging for sure.
While “Shine Right Through” hits a little harder than the previous two tracks, it is layered with his undeniable funk and groove from the dynamic rhythm section of Erin (Gooden) and Kylie (Soanes). It’s very reminiscent of bands like Deep Purple and Thin Lizzy.
You cannot help but clap along as “Strange Addiction” starts oozing through your speakers. This is 70’s style glam heavy rock at its best brought forward to 2018. The chorus is super catchy and will have you keeping this track on repeat.
The EP comes to a close with “Kingdom.” The track has this dark and moody intro that segues quickly into an epic and slow burning rocker. “Kingdom” is easily the best track on Two Sides.
I absolutely enjoyed reviewing Two Sides. My only complaint, as is with bands who release EP’s, is that it just is not enough. Legs Electric are helping to bring back a style of music that resonates with not only myself, but the rest of the rock and roll world. Kudos to the band, and I am very much looking forward to hearing more and for music fans all around the world to experience this killer EP. 8/10 Stars!
