With lyrics that challenge contemporary society and the power to compose and modernize revolutionary sounds of the past, Scarlet Sails have established themselves as an elaborate blend of rock & pop.
Olya Viglione took a leap of faith when she moved from her native Moscow to New York City with just a backpack and a dream of making music. Landing on the Lower East Side, she immersed herself in the city’s music scene playing keyboard and touring with Jesse Malin – sharing the stage with Urge Overkill, Clem Burke (Blondie) and Wayne Kramer.
Fast forward to now, her latest release “My Love” finds the singer-songwriter delivering one of her best works yet. However, the formula that makes up “My Love” is not only attributed to Olya. The uniqueness of the sound would not be complete without the hard hitting wizardry of drummer Brian Viglione, guitarist Mark Kohut and bassist Kevin Jones. Together they make up the foursome known as Scarlet Sails.
The genre smashing band and their work could be best described as an elaborate blend of rock & pop, with uniquely catchy melodies, passionate and reflective lyrics and an undeniable swagger that has drawn comparisons to artists as diverse as David Bowie, Nico, Radiohead and Oasis.
Speaking of “My Love” – lead singer Olya Viglione described it as : “It is as simple and profound as Love is – I wrote this song playing around with my uke in a minute and a half. It was that rare case of when the whole thing just comes out of you with no effort. My heart felt very warm in that moment and the song captured it.”
